1 Object. Balls

I needed to start. And as usual, I started with seven pieces of work. I have long understood that I like such multiple ways of work, and it allows me to switch fast between objects, rethink them and modify.

In the first trial work, I set the task to involve the material and play on the border of picture and object. I defined painting as a plane with paint on canvas. It turns out that colour is needed to determine the meaning of this pictorial art, without it will be just a blank canvas on a stretcher.

I wanted to do something radical. First, I took off the canvas from the wall, and second, I cut it. Of course, here I remembered about Lucio Fontana. In his canvas cuts, he emphasized going beyond the limits of the picture plane.

I wonder where am I going?

When a one and a half meter canvas stands on the floor, then it seems to begin to interact at the physical level with the person. I started to turn the canvas inside out, to reveal its structure and wooden construction. The role of the canvas with paint diminished, and it became somewhat different - a framework for fabric and objects.

This cuts matched the internal structure of a wooden subframe, they were geometric, had a rhythm. These holes were as if coloured spots would be in space. The canvas framed these spots. I wanted to add balls to this geometry. I have been working with balls already for a long time. For me, it is a perfect form for discussion.

In this case, the balls began to behave quite differently under the ultraviolet lamp. New volume and space have appeared. Now it was intricate to separate the object from the drawing.

It was at this time that I tried out a new technique of working with hot glue. I passed the thread through a hot-glue gun, and thus I could model lines batter. This technique turned me on. I thought this would be a sophisticated trick of combining a large ball (a plastic lamp cover) with a painting. As a result, now, I think it was a mistake, and this solution needs to be reworked.

The dimensions of the canvas are 150 x 100 x 4 cm. The materials used are acrylic, ultraviolet paint, blacklight lamp, hot glue, light plasticine, threads, plastic ball ( 30 cm.)
