7 Glitch (1)

I planned this part of the research as the main one. But I realized that that might be a limitation, as I wanted to try many different ideas. Therefore, I put it in a separate section.

This episode cost me inflammation brachial ligament, a cortisone shot, and gave me many discoveries.

I started these experiments while working on Project 8 Casting, internal space, external form. I would add plasticine or clay to the inside of the plaster and then remove it. Inspired by the work of Eva Hesse, I began to experiment further. I was interested in achieving some of the effects like this sculptor. Also, I needed to see how different materials interact with each other.

But the most positive experience for me was plasticine. I discovered many details about working with this material, especially in combination with plaster.

For example, since the temperature in my studio was low, the plasticine was quite hard. In order to get it out of the plaster, I had to make a lot of effort. The result was sharp, jerky hand movements. After I could not raise my right hand, I figured out that you can soften the plasticine with hot air.

Another example, when I had to wait a week and a half for the recovery of my right hand, the plasterwork was completely dry. So there was no more water in the sculpture, so the plasticine stopped separating in one piece, and it stuck to the surface and left traces.

Thus, the best way to extract all the contents from the plaster object is to start on the second/third day, gradually melting it with a hairdryer.

The work on this sculptural group involved my entire body. It was long and dreary. I practically felt that the process of extracting this plasticine is the process of creating something. Such a contradiction, at first I create something, and then only a trace of it remains.

I found a way how to restore one of the previous works, and the result was even better than I had planned.

Now, when I need to finish work on finding the boundaries between painting and sculpture, virtual (digital) and physical, I want to continue this series further.
