Draft Practice Plan: Sustaining and Developing My Practice
Reflections on Current Practice
My artistic journey revolves around exploring materiality, temporality, and the interplay of tactile and visual elements. My installations, like Temporary Permanence or other works, examine themes of resilience, fragility, and reassembly, using materials such as newspapers, plywood, and oil paint to evoke affective responses. Inspired by affect theory (see my essay), I aim to engage audiences in precognitive, sensory interactions. Moving forward, I will expand my investigations into colour fields, sculptures, and paintings, integrating ceramics as a new material. Additionally, I will enhance my community engagement through lectures and collaborative projects.
Research Findings
Key influences include Brian Massumi’s affect theory, Deleuze’s philosophy of difference, and Derrida’s deconstruction. These frameworks guide how I disrupt perceptions and challenge norms.
Goals for the Future
1. Large-Scale Installations
I aim to create a colour-filled temporary installation for a museum or public space, from newspapers or blending folded paper and ceramics or paper and wooden sculptures to expand on themes of temporality and resilience.
I want to develop an outdoor sculpture using tactile materials that engage public interaction and challenge viewers’ sensory perceptions.
2. Material Exploration
Test ceramics in combination with paper folds, or/and integrate them into sculptures. This experimentation will allow me to explore contrasts between fragility and permanence more.
Further develop my style in painting and drawing, emphasizing gestural abstraction and emotional resonance.
3. Community Engagement
Launch free community lectures on art theory and practice to foster dialogue and inclusivity. June/July 2025
Collaborate with local artists to design the interior of a restaurant, showcasing regional talent and creating a welcoming cultural space. December 2024, January 2025
4. Professional Development
Position myself within a wider cultural ecology by networking with museums, galleries, and curators to propose large-scale projects.
Continue engaging with my network of peers, curators, and AI tools for constructive feedback and insights.
5. Process Mapping
Use mapping diagrams to track the relationship between materials, audience engagement, and spatial contexts.
Develop prototypes for installations and sculptures, documenting each step to evaluate progress and refine techniques.
Schedule regular evaluations of my practice, incorporating peer feedback and self-reflection.
6. Holistic Goals
Complete German with C1 certificate
Continue studying French and obtain the A2 certificate
Choose an institute and apply for Master Degree
Strike a balance between personal expression and audience connection, ensuring my work resonates while remaining accessible.
Sustain my practice through a blend of creative projects, community contributions, and professional opportunities.
