Looking for a reason or idea to create a public sculpture, I tried several options with my existing sculptures. But these objects were not only not tied to the location, but also they lost their original charm.

For example, White Square in Moscow is my favourite place. And at first, there was an idea to make a project here. Something resonated with me about these modern glass buildings and the church.

I saw the glass play in the example above and wanted to focus on recycled materials. I could create something similar to Phyllida Barlow with wood, glasses, paint...but it's not really me, although I'm in awe of the beauty and simplicity of the materials. And in general, bringing the idea of recycling materials and garbage in general to Russia is important.

It took me a while to just listen to myself. Therefore, I started from the beginning, with what led me to art and why I am here at all - colour and reactions to it.

For a long time, I wanted to make a large colour field so that its size would be much larger than the scope of a person's vision. So that the colour captures him completely and he remains at one with himself. But to install such a structure in the open area would not work because I still wanted to use materials for recycling - and mainly paper.

I thought for a long time about how to replace or strengthen the material, but then I got the idea to simply move the work inside, in shopping centres. That's where most of the people are.

So I will communicate with them in their habitat and attract new fans to art, not to shopping. In principle, the place can be any enclosed space. In this case, I chose "Mall of Berlin" because there is a lot of natural light.

High and voluminous, open space will comfortably accommodate a three-dimensional structure. The purpose of the work is to pour water emotion on people so that they began to think and do something against nature pollution.

The creation process includes the involvement of volunteers who will recycle newspapers into “clean water”.

The silhouette of the temporary sculptural composition of the "river" was taken from the silhouette of the Volga River in Russia in the city of Kalyazin, where I spent my childhood. And this time seemed especially clean and without problems (because I was not aware), but after that the ecological situation with the rivers in my country became clear. Being aware of environmental safety from childhood is one of the most important principles.

This sculptural composition is supposed to be temporary. Firstly, due to the material itself, the paper will not last and will probably be vandalized. But this is just right because two important points will be reflected here - everything is temporary, like this "wave", and if people commit illegal actions with this surface, this will show the essence of these actions to others. Secondly, the choice of such a place for the exhibition as a shopping centre implies something temporary. The owners of the mall will not agree to a permanent huge artwork, and this is not necessary.

Before construction, it is necessary to consult with the builders on the design of a stable frame - the basis for the “paper layer”.

In the meantime, recruitment of volunteers will be announced, who will be learning how to work in such a technique and involve their children or friends. Each volunteer shell comes to work with their newspapers for recycling (when collecting waste paper, they can campaign among acquaintances and friends about the principles of nature protection and the project).

Construction requires the installation of scaffolding, and safety equipment must be provided and included in the budget. The process of sticking paper on the surface will be held publicly and will be an essential part of the sculptural composition!

Costs:

Construction company consulting - 80 euros per hour

Help with transportation to the assembly site of materials for recycling -

Rent a car for transportation - 1 day 100 euro + Petrol

Installation of scaffolding with worker's support - 400 euro

Additional equipment, tables for work, screws, gloves (fixatives ...) ~ 700 euro

Assistance to builders in the construction of the frame and scaffolding

Paints - 1m2 (14 euro) acrylic is enough for 1.5 m2 of paperwork.

The Wave

The purpose of creating this work is to stimulate the recycling of materials and raise awareness of the pollution of water and nature in general, which depend primarily on each of us.

This work is designed to excite the essence of man - the water of which he consists of 60%. The physical experience of the deep colour is intended to communicate with each individual. The viewer will be blocked by a wave from his usual way in order to stop and think. To think about the purity and beauty of nature and our ability to recreate both.

Place of production and exposition: shopping mall (big open space under the roof, preferably natural light)

Materials: wood, cardboard, hardboard, paper for recycling (scavenge) and paints, colours

Dimensions: 12/15 meters long, 3/4 metres high, up to 2 m. width.
