For this experiment, I used found materials, but I tried to mix them with my newspaper practice.
First, I used found piece of tree. I just worked through it and didn't think about the result. So, in the end, the whole wooden construction was covered with the coloured paper.
That is why, I think, this work cannot be considered in full as a Combines by Rauschenberg.
Even if I say that the beginning of this creature was a dry tree no one can prove it.
And here I asked myself - where are the borders of lay, imagination and concealment? At which point I can say, for example, that here I used paper from the ancient book or the annual paper report of the big company as I would like to say for this piece.
No one knows, and I can say whatever is better fits for my story?!
The second experiment was actually with pure newspapers. But here this material became not a collage, as it often happens, but a building material. Voluminous storyteller. This test proved to me that a newspaper can exist as it is and tell its own story. My story is about pure colour, its depth, volume and beauty. I hide the material under the colour, change its meaning. It is like the painter create a three-dimensional figurative picture where canvas just a supportive medium. In this case, the medium provides natural properties. The viewer invited to spend more time finding the words and reading open spaces.
I am not happy with the colour combinations and the painting way. It is a bit primitive, the viewer can see how I did it. So here I would need to develop a better way. At the small test, the impression of colour combination is better. I think it is connected with the structure of "waves". This is also something which I need to train.
