Drawing 1: Drawing Skills (Assignment 1) Reflection on Tutor Report

Updated: Sep 28, 2018

Tutor’s feedback was positive and extremely motivating. He pointed out some “interesting ideas” and “good outcomes” which now I would like to list here:

1. Temporary drawing – recreate

2. Drawing inspired by emotions – reworking and experimenting further

3. Incorporating frottage with other methods of mark-making

4. A juxtaposition between pen drawing and digital

5. Mixing more media together

6. Collect snippets of information

7. Investigate and respond in a more personal way to the work you observe

8. Multi sensorial experiences – a piece of writing

9. A personal voice – self-discovered points of interest

10. Reflect upon a contemporary artist

11. Write longer responses and reflections.

And many more different things which I’m going to consider in my work.

In Russia and in China people are rather focused on a fast result and efficiency, they sometimes forget (or they are not trained) to say many flowery words in between the lines. I will stick to this logic here and go for developing ideas listed above straight away.

Adding my picture to this post is for personalising my words, the same way as you put a label of OCA on the sheet paper with a feedback).

p.s. From my point of view so far the most successful work was an Exercise 1 Experimenting with expressive lines and marks. Reasons for this as I see it are my emotional involvement and interest in this kind of drawing and painting. My tutor also felt it, as his response to this work was very positive.

Also, I adapted a bit work from the first Assignment.
