4 More things. Experiments, reworked

Updated: Nov 30, 2020

I started experimenting with hot glue. Videos on YouTube and Pinterest helped to understand the potential of this material and how it works.

Accidentally, at the time of working with glue, gypsum powder turned out to be nearby, and I poured glue directly into it. The result pleased me because the line turned out to be voluminous, and not flat on one side, as usual when working on parchment paper.

I reworked one of my work on this course "Tree of Knowledge". The problem was that I used real leaves for the apples, and they were not robust. With the new material I have achieved, even more, now each sheet is unique and has its own design.

Reflecting on the theme of painting and sculpture, I thought about the fact that a canvas is an object, and if you put together a large number of canvases, then it can act as a self-sustaining sculptural composition. But it seemed to me, a fairly simple idea and conclusion. Therefore, I am just making a note about this here in order to state the fact that I now perceive the canvas as an independent object.

Some of the gypsum experiments turned out to be a failure. Still, I do not feel this material and do not feel a great attraction for it. It’s not natural for me. Wood, iron, cardboard - they are warm, and they have an already established shape. Gypsum needs to be shaped, I cannot precisely control the process, and as a result, this material turns out to be quite fragile.

Random thought prompted me to a simple combination of an ultraviolet thread and a stone, a contrast between the natural and the digital. But in fact, this is also a natural thread just with a UV colour. These lines connect with the stone pattern and begin to interact.

And again, by chance, I saw a similar work on Pinterest.
