I am starting this course after the incredible "Painting 2 Studio Practice" that has actually become a turning point of my creative endeavours. During the creative work, I accidentally discovered that I have synesthesia. This opening explained a lot in my practice. I understood why colour was always so important to me, and that colour is material for me, as my emotions. But with writing my Critical Review on the meaning of synesthesia for art, I realized that there is a problem of presentation and perception. Perhaps I can combine this particular issue into a common one for the art as a whole. In other words, the greatest difficulty is to endow the material with an idea in such a way that the viewer can easily perceive it. So, this will be my main focus during this course.
My previous studies have always suffered from the not deep contextual analysis. I'm afraid to promise anything now. I noticed one thing when something is very interesting for me, as it was with synesthesia, I rummaged through all the articles and books. But as soon as I need to analyze, for example, Van Gogh ... I immediately become unbearably bored. What is familiar to me, and what is out of date does not arouse my keen interest, and therefore I do not delve into the deep analysis.
In my work, I pay special attention to ecology. The main principle - I do not want to provoke the production of additional art materials, because I believe that there are already enough materials for creative creativities in the World. Artists do not need to generate more consumption and production. So I either buy paints and the rest at a hardware store or collect old newspapers, boxes and pieces of wood from the neighbours.
In general, I expect from this course to gain confidence in what I am doing, and to develop my approach further, bringing it to the next professional level.
