Tone in the drawings is the key to a good image.
In a simple objects I’m trying to define light and shadow, half light and half shade, own shadow and falling shadow, disruption of light, reflexes. I also thought about material as it is black and red clay it was not easy to show the difference in the colour’s tone. Personally I can spend hours just with this composition analysing the interlocking shadows and the negative shapes between the objects.

First and second drawings I completed by using charcoal on a sheet size A2. During the third drawing I used pencil and fourth one sanguine.

Occasionally, daughter of my friend came in to my atelier and completed the same drawing. Although the tone gradation shown by the bright spots on the surfaces, I felt in love with shape. So simple but such a character! Will pin it to my wall for further analysis.
