Paintings

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

When I just started this part – it was a moment I realised that I can use paper as pure colour. Since this moment I developed a range of work.

First I reworked some old paintings because they were not good enough for me and because I didn’t have too many new canvases. But in my opinion, they still were a bit clumsy and there was no free flow as I see it in the newest works.

Second I started with abstract forms and mix with other materials like oil. Then I moved to simple forms with a focus on colour and shapes.

Step by step I came to the understanding that discussion and analysis of only one colour are already enough. While shapes and forms of the canvas just irritate and take attention away from the main point.

And at this moment something incredible happened. Like a flash – I realised that always been addicted to the colour it was following me all my life and that I perceive the world around me with colours. All information in my mind came together - Kandinsky painted music, my shock after I saw the original work by Rothko, my sculpture practice where I really was missing the emotions of sexy colour, what I paint when I was 12 years old after the strong emotions of first love and how Richard Serra planned that viewer experience his works. Which I can feel, see in time-scale and in space. And, actually, the method which I developed, while practising the exercises, is exactly how I feel the events in my life. The colour field is big so I need to move around it = spend time physically and I see the borders of it and at the same time this colour is volumetric, vivid and breathing!

So during this part, I tried to come deeper to this understanding of colour, time, space and sensations. And I conducted some researches about Synesthesia and what it would mean for me.
