Project 1.2 Political Practice. Position

I also decided to try to explore the movement of the viewer when viewing the artwork. With a clear distinction between colours from different sides, my work changes colour when moving.

It struck me that through the pure perception of colour, the theme of point of view could be developed. So when I perceive the situation of the war, I have one perspective, while Putin's fans have another. We are from different sides and we see what is happening from our own point of view. But if you stand directly opposite, so to speak, facing it, all aspects merge into one picture.

Position, 2022, recycled newspapers, acrylic, water-based fixatives, plaster on canvas, 110 x 155 x 15 cm.

From the fact that we have different points of view, the overall picture does not change. And here it also becomes clear that in order to understand or see a different perspective, you need to perform a physical action. Understanding the position cannot happen if you stand still or keep watching the same news every day or reading the same newspapers.

I really like this little rhetorical opening. It's so simple, but the essence of the problem is so clearly shown.

My recycled newspapers are getting more and more contextual support here. At the first perception, a person will pay attention to the colour field. Beautiful, cute and bright. When approaching the work, the viewer will begin to make sense of the change in colour. Move around work. Then, perhaps, he will read what materials this work is made of. And then it all depends on imagination and observation. I hope that the viewer will be able to compare newspapers, propaganda and different points of view of this colour field.
