Linear perspective

Parallel perspective – an interior view

For training a parallel perspective I draw a view through a doorway inside a building. All lines come to one vanishing point in the centre. Without a ruler, of course, it is much more difficult but on the other side, as you can see below – with a ruler it is a risk to get more drafting drawing.

Angular perspective

As I was not able to go out – google.maps helped me. The idea was to train in the city centre to draw an angular perspective. This drawing could take hours and hours till it will be perfect… On this task I realised I don’t have the patience for this. In general with all types of perspective I don’t have difficulties (thanks to my academic art education) but going further than simple copying of reality, I still "discovering" a reverse perspective and ways of its expression.

Aerial or atmospheric perspective is about tonal gradation. Here you need to be clear with defining shadows and light. It was a sunny day and a variety of colours made the task more complicated. All trees are actually on the sun but in order to depict this, I used rubber to delete background colour for repositioning trees in front. As this place is on the hill there was multiple-point perspective as all houses are built in a chaotic way… This exercise reminded me of Chinese traditional painting with a strong accent on the atmospheric perspective. So I sketched one drawing out of imagination.
