Project 8 Casting, internal space, external form. Work 1

Since I wanted to test the combination of plaster and other materials, I added glass and plasticine.

Exploring the space inside and out gave me the idea to open up the space inside the carton.

I repeated this variation several times, alternating between clay and plasticine.

In the first case, the consistency of the plaster was correct, so I was happy with the result. I added light plasticine, painted the inside with ultraviolet paint.

As a result, the heterogeneous space within the box opposed to the simple straight structure of the box. It's like the structure of stone inside.

After trying with the addition of this sculpture with different elements and colours, I realized that the pure form itself is already nutty and all the additions simplify it.

I really like the second try of this idea with the box. It got soaked, and the plaster took on such a soft and full shape. This work could have been very successful if it hadn't been smashed.

The very idea of filling a box with an arbitrary, so to speak, the abstract shape makes it possible to look at the inner space from a different angle. The inside has become outside. In this case, it would be necessary to plan the shape of the clay with a large volume. In other words, transfer the design of the hole from the first work to the second.

In the third version, I made a round shape following the previous experience with the example of the relief. One part became flat, and the other non-uniform.

The difference led me to the idea that I can combine separate parts with colour. Here again, I used ultraviolet paint.

I cannot say how the brain works, but at the moment of applying the paint, I remembered about the video recorded in the summer. Having lifted one of the stones in the garden, I saw ants. They were so chaotic and fast that I wanted to record this brood rescue process.

I have projected this video on a sculpture.

First, several mediums have come together in this work video, sculpture and painting.

Secondly, the idea of internal and external is shown here through movement and statics of sculpture. Ants are in their normal state of inner peace they are hidden. This sculpture was also an interior space in which part was opened.

Thirdly, the structure of the sculpture looks like a piece of earth was pulled out, which again correlates with video projection. Besides, the shape of the inner hole resembles ant trenches.

Exposition - this sculpture should be on a pedestal at a level just below the viewer's head and fully accessible from all sides. A video with ants (see above) should play nonstop. It is projected on the sculpture so that the projection does not get anywhere except its surface.

The use of ultraviolet light is not yet clear.
