Project 8 Casting, internal space, external form. Work 2 Plastic bags

Around this stage, I realized the communication of the material. Without planning, the material can change and interact regardless of my influence. A similar idea has developed in the work of Tim Ingold MAKING. Anthropology, archaeology, art and architecture.

The author claims that through active interaction with the material, the thought process and development takes place. Thus, a creation that is not focused on a planned result generates a new.

On the one hand, one can agree with this point of view, since in the process of working with the material, combinations are obtained, which, in turn, induce new conclusions.

On the other hand, improvisation is always subject to some kind of external constraints, not only of the material itself but primarily of the person who also has previous experience.

The example, in the first case, driven only by work and analysis of the internal and external form, I received a living, dynamic example of communication between three materials. Although the third material (plastic) is no longer present, it played a decisive role in the connection between wood and plaster. The last one has influenced the shape of the bag separately from my will.

In the second case, the restrictions were introduced, both by the material (a form of the plastic bag) and by the fact, that my assignment was focused on studying the inner and outer form.

Therefore, regardless of whether I was focused on the result or not, or material can live its life or not, in the making there is always previous experience and limitations contained in man himself, but this does not interfere with getting something new.

For example, in this work, a new experience for me was the interaction of three materials as external and internal forms of each other.

And how great was my surprise when I found Maria Bartuszova. I really can't be unique. Someone has done this before me.
