This part of the course was my most fruitful and favourite. Point by point, I took time to reflect on my interests and rework what my tutor pointed out. Approaching the end of the course, it is obvious to me that all my searches and interests themselves converge into one structure. Which I hope can be traced in the last part.
SC5STP - Sculpture 2: Studio Practice. Learning Outcomes
LO1 develop a body of work that is rigorous in its engagement with conceptual and practical skills
Starting to identify my interests for my independent practice, I analyzed what I was already doing. This helped to identify and focus on things that interest me - the recycling of materials, the emphasis on colour, the increased materiality of materials, and their conceptualization. With the awareness of these important accents, I created several versatile works analyzing the issues of beauty, aesthetics, provocation, choice, memory, reflection and ecology.
LO2 demonstrate how research has informed your practice
In each work, I refer to various artists with detailed analysis, as well as non-standard reflections of scientific discoveries (Lynn Margulis), new philosophical thoughts (Graham Harman), as well as fine dining.
LO3 evidence your engagement with experimentation through your practice
New experiments for me were collaborations with photographers, sewing on a sewing machine, as well as extensive testing of new reinforcing materials for outdoor work (a parallel project), individual production of frames for my works, and development of commissioned works.
LO4 situate, reflect and critique on the work and practices of sculptors and reflect on your own learning
In the last part of the course, I especially emphasized the interweaving of everything I learned and combined it with my work and practice in the studio.
