Peter Doig British artist, born 1959
Travailing around the word and deeply focused on his childhood memories the Artist finds inspiration in Nature. Sometimes works are really linear and with intricate layers of colour and texture. Quite academic works contain modern ways of representation. Sharp subject and loud colour combination.
What was interesting for me is a staged painting… This idea I need to try.
What is appealing to me that figures in the landscape almost disappearing or becoming a landscape itself.

John Virtue British artist, born 1947
This is quite an experience for me to learn about black and white expression. For me – a person who sees or creates all possible colours, to practise in 2 colours is more than interesting.

The artist chooses one subject and works with it, developing, analysing… but it was a thorny path - to find his own subject.
I can’t say that I’m very interested in landscape but working in the open air in Russian rural regions make me appreciate the value of nature. However, personally for me, a man is a far more interesting object for representation as it is a world inside the world but compare this centralistic idea with the landscape – buildings can be analysed the same way. They are mortal as people. They are with character and history. John Virtue chooses landscape as a primary source of inspiration and a subject for representation. Technically the artist uses acrylic, ink, shellac and sprays on canvases.
In the way of executing his works, art critics see the relationship with the British landscape painters – Turner, Constable. For one culture, of course, is more important to grow artists which could represent the heredity of this culture.

This Artist I discovered during Art Fairs in Shanghai. Colours and vibration, strokes and lines…
While researching about the landscape – I saw this… Even that there are a lot of colours, for me, in her works no deepness and mystery. On the artist's web site one image changes another as it would be colourful photos on Instagram. Superficial and with additional “photo filter”.

Nicolas de Staël felt colour especially precise and vivid. The landscape was a frequent subject for him. Summarising and combining small forms into large he depicted it with subtle tonal gradation or vice versa with a sharp gap between light and shadow.

A bit from the "Russian history"... This was the beginning of the last century but I sincerely love how Korovin worked with a colour and how he built a composition.
