Self Evaluation towards Assessment Criteria

LO1: Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and technical and practical skills through your work

Reflection: Throughout my work, I have utilized a variety of materials showcasing my comprehensive knowledge and technical skills. Each piece reflects my ability to manipulate these materials to create visually and conceptually engaging art. The technical execution of combining unconventional materials demonstrates my practical skills and understanding of materiality.

Strengths:

  • Proficiency in diverse materials and techniques.

  • Effective manipulation of textures and forms to convey meaning.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Further refinement in integrating digital media with physical materials.

  • Research into the conditions of creation and exhibition of urban art

LO2: Produce an ambitious body of work that is critically informed

Reflection: My body of work critically engages with themes such as media influence, trauma, duality, and societal norms. Pieces like "Colour of War" and the series "Fragmented Perspectives" illustrate my commitment to exploring complex ideas and presenting them through an ambitious and cohesive collection. My work is informed by contemporary discourse and reflects a deep understanding of current societal issues (post-war conditions, post-truth, post-digital, affect theory, new materialism, posthumanism, and environmental philosophy.)

By experimenting with different materials, techniques and compositions, I have developed a distinctive visual language that balances chaos with harmony and fragility with strength. This process has allowed me to discover new ways of expressing complex concepts and emotions.

For example, "for my mom" and "Fragmented Perspectives No 1 (Perfectly Imperfect)" showcase my ability to critically engage with and reflect on contemporary issues through my art. My conceptual knowledge is demonstrated through the layered meanings and narratives embedded in each piece.

Journey Reflection

Reflecting on my journey, it has been both challenging and rewarding. I went through various phases of experimentation, conceptualization, and critical engagement. My strengths lie in my technical skills, critical thinking, and innovative use of materials. However, I recognize the need to continue expanding my digital media skills and broadening my critical perspectives.

Key moments of realization have included the successful integration of diverse materials and the deepening of my conceptual narratives. Overall, I have solved numerous creative problems and learned to balance technical execution with conceptual depth, resulting in a coherent and impactful body of work.
