In current composition I used steel pail for ice and ceramic sugar bowl. During the day was not enough light and shadows were not clear so I used lamp that objects are lit from one side and at least one shadow falling in another object.

While working I always try to define big ratio in between the lightest and the darkest areas and I count 1-2-3 for the tonal range. For instance falling shadow from object will be darker than own shadow on the object – lightest is 1, own shadow is 2 and falling shadow is 3. But in reality there are more numbers)
The distance from the light source also needed to bear in mind. Reflection on the surface of the bench interplay with shadows. Sides of the object needed to be correlated with the background and negative space I tried to compose.
