Exercise one leads me to create virtual ‘drawing’ and provokes to try some unusual drawing activities. Being completely locked in “Russian academic education box” it would be a real challenge to create something informal, but as I had experience of Art school in Sao Paulo I’m going to challenge myself right at the beginning.
Temporary drawing for me it is something that will not stay for long. It was created one day and one day disappear. Can be left the only recording of it.
During thinking about this task I was travelling in Yunnan province in China. I was surrounded by colourful mountains and Buddhism.
I had a chance to paint (create) flags with mantras (some people confident that these texts have a spiritual power) and positioned it, with the others lines of flags, on the peak of the holy mountain (how locals believe).
The shape of this lines appeared for me like an intentional drawing, so I took a chance to complete the composition with one more line of my own flags and wish for all people I know all the best (with this idea I was supported by Buddhist main postulate).
Was it a real drawing? I think yes because it contains elements of conscious arrangement in composition, elements which invoke to think about the author’s idea.
Still, I will leave one more open question for myself – will it be recognized by observers as an art object or intention of art if most of the visitors of this place are perceive this act as a religion canon?
